EMDR is a therapeutic treatment used to reprocess trauma and help people who have been "stuck" in negative thinking or behavior patterns. Many individuals can benefit from EMDR including those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Complex PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Pain, Eating Disorders, and individuals with attachment issues.
Experiencing trauma can block the brain's natural way to recover from distressing events. Through the use of bi-lateral stimulation of both hemispheres of the brain and recalling memories EMDR re-activates the natural healing process. Mary-Lynn Swanson, LICSW, uses a light bar, pulsers, touchpoints, and headphones to assist in the healing of individuals who engage in EMDR therapy.
Mary-Lynn Swanson, LICSW has been trained through EMDRIA and is an active member. To learn more please watch the video below and review the phases of EMDR.
Note: Mary-Lynn Swanson, LICSW, is only providing in person sessions.
