Mary-Lynn Swanson, LICSW, is the owner of Cape Cod Psychological Associates and is a seasoned professional with over 25 years experience. She graduated from Boston University School of Social Work with her Masters in Social Work in 2009 and obtained her independent licensure in 2012. She has experience conducting in home family counseling, direct support in residential homes, group development and therapeutic support for day treatment, and has provided mental health support in a psychiatric hospital. She also has gained experience serving as a former clinical supervisor and clinical trainer. In 2016 Mary-Lynn went into private practice. She created Cape Cod Psychological Associates in 2020.
Mary-Lynn enjoys being a part of the growth process and seeks to offer a warm and supportive environment for her clients. She specializes in supporting and empowering women to overcome and heal from their circumstances. She is frequently sought out for trauma treatment, managing symptoms, grief and loss, family challenges, societal pressures and expectations, co-dependency, addiction, poor self-esteem, transitions, and creating positive habits. Interventions that she uses often include EMDR -Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Life Coaching, Client-Centered Therapy, Behavior Modification, Hypnosis, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, Psychoeducation and Strength Based Therapy.
Mary-Lynn offers in person sessions in the South Dennis office. Telehealth is not available.

Please Note: If you are requesting EMDR therapy you will need to be screened to determine the readiness for trauma processing. Some people require more time than others to be prepared to do EMDR. Being able to self-regulate is necessary as well as establishing trust with your therapist. Some individuals may be able to into reprocessing more rapidly depending on their presentation and symptoms. Either way, Mary-Lynn Swanson, LICSW, will work with people at the level of their needs to move them towards healing.
